Blown Glass, Magnets, Gold Leaf, Human interaction. 2018.

Attraction was created from the magnets longing to come back together if their distance was close enough. I decided to glue one down and place the other far enough to not effect the magnet unless the viewer decided to enact a turning force on the handle on top. The history of the magnet moving through the reliquary is exemplified by the marks created as it scraped the gilded gold of the glass base inside revealing the mechanics below it.

As time progresses Cardoza has worked to refine and capture different characteristics in the glass but more importantly in his process.

This third session in 2018 had more than 2389 works submitted and a total of 60 were selected due to craftsmanship, ingenuity and innovation. Out of the fourth iteration of experiments with his glass fusings he decided to take the process to the next level by using different heating elements for example using a oxygen/propane fueled torch.
